Courta

Safety

Playing with strangers should feel like playing with neighbours.

Here's what Courta does to keep games safe, what you can do, and what happens if something goes wrong.

Built in

Verified accounts

Players can verify an email and a phone number. Verified accounts carry a badge on their profile and their games. Hosts can set a game to "verified accounts only". Guests can play, but they're labelled as guests everywhere.

Real names, real records

Every host and player builds a public track record: on-time rate as a host, check-in rate as a player, reviews for coaches from students who actually attended. New accounts say so.

Public places

Every venue on Courta is a public court, a club, a park or a golf course. Games happen where other people are, in daylight or under lights, never at someone's home.

Talk inside the app

Game chat and invites keep the conversation on Courta, so nobody needs to hand out a phone number to organise a game, and there's a record if something goes wrong.

Block and report

Block anyone from their profile: they can't join your games, invite or message you, and their games disappear from your Discover. They aren't told. Report links sit on every game, profile and review and go to a person.

Money handled by Stripe

Card payments go through Stripe. Courta never sees or stores card numbers, and refunds follow one published policy.

Six habits that keep you safe

  1. 1Look at the host's track record and whether they're verified before joining a game with strangers.
  2. 2Tell someone where you're playing. Every game has a share link and an add-to-calendar button; send it to a friend.
  3. 3Arrive a few minutes early and check in from the game page; it shows the group who's actually there.
  4. 4Keep the first game with new people at a busy court in daylight.
  5. 5Never pay a host or coach outside the app. On-Courta payments come with a refund policy and a record.
  6. 6Trust your gut. Leave a game any time from its page, and block or report from the profile.

If something goes wrong

Someone is in danger

Call 911. Your safety comes before anything on this site.

Someone behaved badly

Block them from their profile, then report with details. A person reads every report and can pause or remove the account.

A venue or coach problem

Use the contact page with the link. Refunds follow the refund policy.
